Dear Hon Sec,

I recently received the excellent O.C. Newsletter which is indeed compulsive reading.

When I arrived at Clayesmore in Jan 1957, Bobby Mash was junior House Prefect together with Munro and Epps. Jonathan D. Rodgers was head boy). Please pass on my good wishes to him for a long and active retirement. As you may know I live in Birmingham, Alabama with my wife Sheilda and my 14 year old son Eric who is a fanatical soccer player. For those who may be interested, my older son Chris Alley obtained a scholarship to Boston University from where he graduated inl996 just prior to us visiting Clayesmore for the Centenary Ball. Chris returned to B.U. after graduation as deputy director of Admissions, and has just moved in a similar capacity to Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia which is principally a medical school and hospital.

I wanted to ask if you had an old address for Cook, Peter 57-59 in Newcastle on Tyne ? Years ago I lived briefly in Gosforth and tried to trace Peter who had lived in the Jesmond area, but without success. I notice that under 'Odds and Ends" there was information about Mike Riddall 45-50, and would like to know if his father was Gervais Riddall, headmaster of Northwood Preparatory School, known as "Terries' as I believe it was he who recommended Clayesmore to my father. Because of the location many of the Terries boys went on to Merchant Taylors. I believe Cameron Brown 42-47 won a scholarship to Clayesmore from the same prep school as I recall seeing his name on the "Scholarship Board." I have many pleasant memories of cricket, rugby and hockey and will write again when I have had a chance to collect these thoughts together. Please pass on my good wishes to David Beeby who I believe has an aunt in Mobile, Alabama's Gulf Coast and only port. Also to Michael Henbest who inspired my interest in things Geographical, my greetings. Wishing all the very best for 2000.

Sincerely.

Adrian Drapkin(57-61)
