OC Day @ Clayesmore

Sunday 25th February 2001

oc_hockey01.jpg (38539 bytes)Not so cold it would freeze the fittings off a brass bedstead but cold as in very. Hockey match after Chapel. H.T. et ux. arrived to congeal on the touch-line circa mid-day. Final Score 10-3 to the OCs in an altogether more aggressive style of game than I'd supposed decent. Enterprising too, when Ali Paul scored the rugger equivalent of a drop goal by flipping the ball over the defence plus goal-keeper and into the net. A platoon of infantry might have saved that one!. Paul scored three more and Gareth Hardman another three. Adam Miles, Colin Toovey and Justin Perry scored one apiece to make the 10. To my shame, I lost my note on the heroes of the school team.

Not only was lunch a great idea but it was served inside! More than that, it was a 'buffet trawl', in which allHockey Team Lunch things come together nicely. (Your fault if they don't). In all about thirty five sat down and were duly photographed for the Newsletter and the Website. All in all, a classic Clayesmore welcome.

Martin Cooke showed us the plans for the new Science/Computer block. Being adjacent to the Stables/Middles, it is happily in the same style and to a good spec. It should look well. Took a 'before' shot for the record. Work starts 'June-ish'. Finished when it's done!

Supporters ClubCalled on 'Tommy' at Shroton. Not only is she well, she is well enough to move to a new house in a development behind the 'Crown' at Blandford. A whiff of taste, as befits. She should be well and truly moved in by the time this hits the Press.
