Success at O C Golf Day ! 
(After only 11 years of trying)

The OC Golf Society had its inaugural event back in 1991. For the intervening ten years I have dutifully submitted a report of the OC golf day for the Old Clayesmorian newsletter praising the exploits of past winners of the Society's individual trophy - the Iwerne Cup. This year I can report, at last, that I have joined this illustrious group and won the Iwerne Cup.  I can dispense with any modesty, include an inanely grinning photo of myself, and indulge!!

That done, I can report that the OCGS enjoyed another successful event with 24 OC's gathering at Temple Golf Club on 22nd June. The sun shone again and we were delighted to welcome back John Bentley not only because he was looking fit again after illness prevented him from playing last year, but also because he generously bought the wine for us all at dinner.

The morning fourball competition was won by the single figure handicap partnership of Edwin Holtham and Malcolm Peake with David Wakely and Edwin 's brother Spencer , runners up. The afternoon team competition was a close encounter with David Caddy and Max Dowse beating David Bennett and John Bentley into second place.

Mike Jones, flamboyant as ever, Nick Mason consistent as ever and Mike Roe as determined as ever were the other prize winners

Other OC's who played included our President Roddy Symes, George Hodgson, Barry Stevenson, Ian Smith, Iain Havell, Colin Jones, Trevor Harrison, Clive Smith, Robin Harrison

The 2002 OC Golf Day will be held at Temple Golf Club on Friday 21st June. Thanks to the great support we receive from the OC Society and Temple Golf Club, there is no better value day's golf anywhere!
