John Grant re Kenneth J Fisher

From: "John Grant"
Date: Thu, Jan 4, 2001.

Subject: Kenneth J. Fisher (30 - 38)

Kenneth J. Fisher has died on Christmas Eve. I do not know much about him but Gavin Maclean has written in to the School and rather than post his letter to you, the text is as follows:-

"I had a phone call from Mike Fisher, Ken Fisher's Son to say that his Father had died on Christmas Eve. I, of course, only knew him in the Senior School, but he had been at the Junior School as well. The only time I met him again after leaving was at Cramwell, when I did a Wireless Operator's course (air) and he was doing a Wireless Operator's course (ground). On a very damp March evening in 1941, we were marching somewhere, when suddenly I heard a voice behind me, asking was I Maclean from Clayesmore? As you can imagine we really couldn't have a conversation then, but agreed to find each other somewhere on the camp. We never did. It was only when I nostalgically got in touch with Tim Westbrook that I once more got into correspondence with Ken. Correspondence is not really the right word, because by that time he had Parkinson's and could not write. I wrote - he phoned, and resurrecting a friendship after so many years is not easy over the phone."
