Subject: Getting in touch with an update.
Dear Nick,
Over the indulgent festive period I enjoyed reading the OC newsletter and now with a rare morning to spare, I thought I would express my gratitude for having been sent the 'glossy' paged magazine. Of particular interest was news of recent OC's and their whereabouts, so I thought I'd add to this list with a short 'personal update' of my life to date which I would appreciate if you would include in the next edition - So here goes!
I completed my A levels at Weymouth College obtaining a surprising 3 A's and a C, surprising because I spent so little time there due to getting heavily involved with the Dorset Expeditionary Society. This superb organisation runs foreign expeditions to destinations such as South America, Canada, India, and The Alps. In 1996 I was fortunate enough to be selected for the British Columbia, wilderness canoeing and trekking expedition, which went so successfully I secured myself a place on a climbing expedition to the Italian Dolomites the following year. With these amazing experiences under my belt I started at Cardiff University, partly due to its wonderful student Mountaineering Club but also because it offered well established and regarded Business degrees. I graduated last June (2000) with a Bsc Econ in Accounting and Management and left for the 'Good ol' US of A' on a Hospitality Management Internship. This lucky break has led to a job offer in the club controller's department of a private corporate Golf Club again in New York, but this time 45 minutes north of Manhattan. So with great anticipation, I leave Dorset in March to start this exciting graduate position which I hope will turn out to be my big opening to a life in Yankee land.
I am still in regular contact with two close friends from Clayesmore and since my Hotmail address has been published on the OC website, I have heard from three other old OC's whom I knew well in the prep school but had lost touch with. Having read this if you remember me - perhaps from Kings, or better still from the Prep School, I would love to hear from you, but in the meantime congratulations on a superb newsletter and best wishes to all old OC's!
Yours sincerely,
Sally Hemingway (85-95)
