Major Tim Saunders MBE - OC 70 - 75
Dear Nick
I remember your abortive attempts to teach me musical appreciation and the
Clarinet! However, you will be pleased to know that not all your seeds fell on
stony ground, as I am typing while listen to a concert on Radio 3.
I have filled in my details in the 'lost contact' page along with those of my
brother Antony (AG Saunders 71-74).
As you will probably have gathered I am in the Army, which is a good place to
pursue a hobby of military history. I was in fact looking up contact details of
the master responsible for the Burney Library, so I could send him copies of my
books. This came to mind the other day, when I recalled being set a 'special'
essay by Spinney, on some obscure battles fought on the border of France and
Belgium during the French Revolution. I was captivated by a couple of dusty old
books and hope my efforts will help a Clayesmorian, some time in the future,
discover an interest in history.
I have taken the opportunity, bearing in mind my procrastination that denied me
the opportunity of writing to Spinney, to send an e-mail to Roy McIssac,
thanking him for all the School, under his headship, did for me and for laying
the foundations of a fulfilling life. Long live Clayesmore.
Regards
Tim Saunders (70-75) (not the one who was on Blind Date)
