I attended Clayesmore between 1967-1968 before leaving for USA.
Although it was only for one year, I had fond memories of the school and the
staff. I believe Mr. Skinner was running the Judo Club and I learned Bridge from
my Math teacher. He was a great Math teacher although I can't remember his name
(Mr. Newhouse or Houseman?). I donated a "Fish with feet (Mud Clawer)"
specimen from Thailand, to the biology lab after an evolution class, taught by
Mr. Moore, I believe. He lectured without any notes. There was also a great
Chemistry teacher who was teaching "S" level at the time. I also
learned to play field hockey and rugby the first time at Clayesmore. One of
pleasant memories there was when the head prefect presented me with the rugby
colour after breakfast. Speaking of breakfast, the food there was delicious. In
fact a friend of mine from Egypt (Mamu?) always got up early in the morning to
buy freshly baked bread from the nearby bakery so he could have it with his
breakfast. I am now residing in Tennessee, USA. Next year I'm planning to take
my family to visit UK during the summer and might take time to visit Clayesmore
if an opportunity arises.
