Just a short one. Do you know if any other OCs have been daft enough to stand for the election in June? Signing as one rather hopeful Tory in Glasgow.

With all best wishes

Nick,

Bizzarely enough there were quite a few Glasgow Tory MPs in the 30s, the last remnant is Teddy Taylor, though he smooched down to Southend after a bit of gerrymandering made it impossible for him to win up here. The authentic voice of Ibrox in Westminster. I will be keeping a diary of sorts during the campaign, so it wont be a question of energy, more of whether I have any fingers or other extremities left.

Ho hum, it'll be fun whatever.

Gawain (Towler) (81-86)

Webmasters Note - Upon receipt of above we published a request for details of any other OC candidates, with the following result -

Spotted on your web page that Gawain Towler stood in General Election for Glasgow Maryhill.

In response to your request for "other candidates" - I stood as Tory candidate in Llanelli, South Wales at the last general election.

Living in the New Forest, Hampshire, and would hope for somewhere closer to home next time!

Although I run my own business, I have followed political interests for some time. I represent constituents, both on Hampshire County Council and the New Forest District Council and have Leader of the latter for three years. Since July of this year I have been Chairman of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police Authority.

Regards,

Simon Hayes (1972-77)
