Dear Nick
I hope you do not mind me writing to you with regards the Scadding Exhibition. Unfortunately I will not be able to bring my Scadding Water-colour (1949) to the exhibition.
However an article I read a month or two ago in the Telegraph about an Old Clayesmorian artist 'Tony Hart' (poss 1937-40) set me thinking, how many Clayesmorians went on to become successful artist, who's work is closely related, especially those taught by Scadding. A research someone at Clayesmore or the society might be interested in. The most successful artist from my era I know of is Robyn Denny with paintings at Tate Britain and the London Underground murals at 'The Embankment'.
For myself, I studied at Heatherlys in London but spent the rest of my career designing film sets, however, always using water-colours for my designs. I always intended to return to full time painting when I retired which is exactly what I have done.
Yours sincerely
Tony Woollard (46-50)
