Subject: a brief note of thanks
Hi Nick
Just a quick one to thank you for the time you spent teaching me how the chapel
organ worked. It has given me, and others, a great appreciation over the years
as to the workings of the machine.
I have lived on the canals now for twenty something years and visited lots of
churches and the first place I go is to the organ and explain how it works, be
it electro pneumatic, pallet or whatever and I reckon I could still tune one but
only given one "in tune" pipe.
Many thanks.

Well what a surprise to hear from you out of the blue! I am sorry not to have
replied sooner but I nipped off to LA for a four day fleeting visit (at the
request of my USA Headmistress - you can tease your father with the news that at
least one of my former 'Head of school' approved of me to the extent that she
sent me a return ticket as she needed help with her new house! On second
thoughts -perhaps you should not) and only returned late last night.
I was amused and amazed to hear that the organ details have stuck!
What fun you must have on your boat. I have returned to North Curry to look after a 94 year old mother and we are not too far from the Taunton / Bridgwater canal so drop me an 'e' mail if you are ever on it.
I am sorry to say that this Mac was unable to open your attachment so I don't know what it contained.
All the best, and thanks for getting in touch.
Nick

Dear Nick
It was good to read from you. I still keep abreast of the goings on at
Clayesmore via the web site and the OC news. I was sorry to hear about Audrey's
death and communicated this to Roy and I received a nice email from him.
I now work as technical development manager for a company that makes ultrasonic medical cleaning machines in Bishops Stortford where I have my boat moored. The Bridgwater and Taunton is sadly not connected with the rest of the system so I doubt I will ever do more than walk it.
What are you doing these days? still musical things I would guess. Do you still have interesting cars? I went through a phase of collecting large old ex army trucks and also road rollers. I did a lot of restoration work on traction engines and steam rollers so, as you can see the technical bug never left me, in fact every job I have ever done has involved getting things to work.
I must make the effort to attend an OC event some time, I still have electronic contact with a few of my contemporaries, do many of them turn up to events or do you see so many that lose track of who knows who?
I'm afraid I don't really understand the one about my Father.
Well enough rambling, take care, enjoy and well done for looking after your
Mum. I hope it goes well.
