Subject: Beethoven's 9th!
Just heard the above broadcast from the RAH and thought of you and of doing my Maths Homework for the ever-mild Mr. Peart, I recall, in the queue!!! I guess you are down in Somerset and didn't make it. We have seen quite a few of them on the TV now we have a Digibox thing. We have also discovered the Hallé family concert series - exceptionally good value and a great hall - the Bridgewater. Have booked all 4 in the series for the coming season for all 5 of us- the pick ( of the cheapest tickets, but with great view/sound) , all on a Sunday so we tend to hit China Town for lunch before hand. If you fancy sampling the northern metropolis ever, just give us a call. There is always something on in Manchester - either opera in the city, something at the Bridegwater or even in Salford in the Lowry. Even Glyndebourne Touring are calling in at Stoke on Trent , 25 miles to the SE of us. Manchester is just 20 miles to the north.
I accidentally got a job at a local comprehensive school on a part time
maternity cover and we'll see what happens when that is over; I saw Jenny
Merryman ( Henbest) (77 - 80) in the summer. I drove over to Derby to see
her, her son David now 3 and her new baby Emily about 8 weeks old. She is very
happy and will resume her piano and cello teaching in a few months time. I've
never met her hubby of two years but she really does look so settled and keen to
stay in touch. David has bright ginger hair; Jenny's music room is hidden under
a carpet of wooden train layouts!! Anyway, all the best; do send us a line with
your news,
Sarah Trueman/Jacot (77 - 82)
