"Where They Are Now"

1930's - 40's

(32 - 36) Sayers, M.C. One of the few survivors from the Winchester days and has at last admitted that he has retired. Lives in Bosham.

(34 -39) Harvey, Richard Qualified a Civil Engineer at Loughborough and worked all round the world (but mainly in the UK) for Balfour Beatty. Wife died in 2002 after being bed ridden for a year. They were married 56 years.

(36 - 41) Bowen, Esmond J. , Maj Gen was formerly Director of Army Dental Services. He lives in Andover and unfortunately is suffering from motor neurone disease.

(40 - 42) Nicholson. Desmond Army champion high jumper and has lived in Antigua since he sailed there. A career spent chartering yachts to very high profile Americans. (including C.S Forester, Robert Oppenheimer.) Has become something of an expert in local archaeology and has written many historical papers. He has built museums, travelled South America by canoe and picked up several awards for his various achievements. He has also authored several books. As he says, "I am well satisfied". Nine grandchildren and has created his own web site for any one who is interested in the fuller story.

(41 - 44) Kelley, John A.V. Is now retired. He worked in various clerical and computer related positions with same firm in Toronto for 44 years. He enjoys birding, aviation photography, and railways. He held both Power and Glider Pilot Licences

(42 - 47) Bush, Michael B. On leaving School he emigrated to Canada and joined the Royal Canadian Air Force. Now retired and living in Vancouver, Canada.

(42 - 50) Slater, Christopher Is a qualified musician-conductor, organist, lecturer. He has a son who is a composer and a daughter who is entering the ministry. Celebrated his 70th, conducting his own orchestra which Derek Thornbery (41 - 46) attended. Still lectures for the WEA and has two grandchildren.

(44 -45) Anderton, A.B. living in Somerset and has retired from the Midland Bank.

(45 - 48) Hauck, Hubert Lives in New Jersey, USA and is President of Mohawk Consulting Inc. He would love to hear from Ginger Halsted (44 - 46), Terry Moore (42 - 46) or one of that ilk. He also attended the Prep School in Blandford in about 38 - 40 and remembers cleaning nettles off the island in the Stour for P.T.

(45 - 50) Elliott, Robin Lives in London and is a Writer. He is suffering from Parkinson's' Disease.

(47 - 51) Woodward, Nigel. P.H. Regular officer in the Royal Hampshires until l986 and then worked for the Army until 1998 when he retired to Bere Regis. Has had a stint as a councillor on the Purbeck District Council.

(48 - 53) Spittal, John A. Would love to contact any of his peer group from either the Senior School or Prep School (Charlton Marshall 1942 - 48). (48 -52) Bamford, Ian A Master of Wine who has retired after a lifetime in the trade though still does some lecturing. Enjoys golf and watching Lancashire play cricket. Father, Malcom (22-29) died eight years ago and brother David (50-55) died October 2002.
