Royal Albert Hall Messiah conducted by Sir David Willcocks
?31st October 1998
Having just returned from this years Messiah from Scratch at the RAH where a choir of about 5000 accompanied by a fine orchestra and excellent soloist gave a thrilling performance under Sir Davids inspired direction to a hall filled to the gallery, I wonder if next year we might not try to get an OC group together to sing and listen. (This year there was a group of 600 from Holland.) Possibly have dinner at a local Chinese buffet after the performance. These events are sold out months in advance and so to get good seats we would have to book early. Tickets are not cheap (but the buffet would be about £5.00). Any OC interested should phone me as soon as possible (0181 761 4696) and I will pass on information when the date is confirmed and when the cost of tickets is published. (This year tickets ranged from £10-£20). Other possibilities during the year are Mozarts Requiem on 31st May and on Saturday 11th July there will be a day rehearsing and performing the Verdi Requiem. All three concerts will be directed by Sir David Willcocks at the RAH.
