From John Saunders
27/6/96
It must be fifty years since I was last in touch with the school. I do not know if my younger brother J. D. Saunders (min) kept in touch or not and I am regretfully writing to advise of his passing on 24/6/96.
He was three years younger than me, and I think there must be some OCs who would have
known him still alive.
After he left the Army (War service) he went as a tea planter to Ceylon and when the
whites were thrown out he went to the Islands PoNG planting Copra, then to New Zealand
where he worked for the government, finally retiring to Queensland. He leaves a wife, two
sons, and a daughter.
I was known as Sanders (mi) and left school in Dec 1937. I spent my time with various engineering companies and finally migrated to Australia in 1969. As a result of war injuries (I was a rear gunner in a Wellington which crashed.) I now have two knee replacements, one of which has to be done again as it is eight years old.
At 75 I enjoy life apart from asthma.
Do you have such a thing as an OC Newsheet? (Good question ED)
Yours sincerely,
John N Saunder
PS. There were three of us at the school. Pilot Officer R A Saunders (ma) was killed in WW II. He was a fighter pilot.
