BACK TO NEWSLETTER 1998 CONTENTS
Letters 1998
Dear Sir,
Through your pages I would like to take the opportunity of thanking the OC Society for the financial contribution made towards this year's Cormorant Cricket week.
A report on the week should appear elsewhere in this newsletter, and I hope it will convey what a happy relatively successful time the team had in July. The Cormorants are now embarking on their fifth decade, and the cricket week in which we play our traditional opponents is well established in the calendar.
Unlike some former times, the side is almost exclusively made up of OCs, current members of the school and its staff. The financial help is especially welcome as so many of the side are either still at school or university, an therefore, not earning. It makes the difference between running at a loss - in the past this has generously been made good by a number of more senior Cormorants - and being able to run the week in a way which such a worthwhile activity deserves. Our turnover for the whole week is now well in excess of a thousand pounds.
The financial assistance is very much appreciated, and we hope it will be possible for Cormorants to receive similar funding in the future.
Yours faithfully, for and on behalf of the Clayesmore Cormorants Cricket Club
Andrew Beaton (64-69)
