Letters 1998

23-2-98

Dear Jane,

I am prompted to write by the arrival of the 1997 OC Newsletter. We all enjoy it, not just Piers (Counsell 85/88), and I want to put you record straight! Needless to say he is not the best letter writer, but he is not a missing person and has been managing our farm since late 1991, shortly after a three year agricultural course at Larkham College. Since his return he has put the farm back on it's feet (despite the ongoing political and economic turmoil peculiar to African States) and is growing tobacco under irrigation as well as dryland. He has also built up from almost nothing an excellent and large Boran beef herd.

Mark Snell (85/88) is here staying with us after 3 years working in Gaberene, Botswana. He and Piers are exploring the possibility of starting up a fishing safari business on the Zambezi. Even when not actually staying he can always be contacted through Piers - they have retained a very strong friendship since Clayesmore.

Hope the above is useful to you. I think the committee do a wonderful job. One suggestion to keep OCs in touch - I know Allhallows do this - meet at a particular pub at a specific time, i.e. Rose and Crown, Piccadilly, 2nd Friday, any month.

Kind regards

Mary Counsell.
