Yet again this copy of the 'Newsletter' is editor less as none of the contributions have been cut or changed in anyway. Material has flowed in over the year and this edition is about as full as the last. Many thanks to all of you who have contributed. Again, special thanks to John Grant, but for whom the 'Where are they now' section would have been short. Thanks also to Hugh Thompson who has been full of ideas. We have capitalised on the goodwill of former teachers this year and are grateful to Ronald Smith, Jim Tilden, and Elizabeth Coatman/Arden for their articles and memories.
The OC Web site has languished badly this year even though Julian Bailey (64-69) kindly donated a comprehensive software system to enable us to translate the Newsletter into html (whatever that means). Is there an OC who would like to help keep the Web site up to date and interesting?
'E' Mail is becoming more and more of an asset to the OC Society. If you are not on the 'e' mail list, please inform the society of your 'e' mail address if you have one. (oldclayesmoriansoc@lineone.net) It is so simple, fast, and cheap to inform members of OC events by using 'e' mail that we hope to make much more use of this system. We already send out reminders of the "Lamb & Flag' gatherings monthly and it is so easy to add any extra last minute information. It also makes the production of the Newsletter so much simpler when articles, letters, and general information are 'e' mailed to us - they do not need retyping!
Last year the Newsletter was criticised for being "too focused on the really old days with not enough about recent history." As mentioned above, there have been no cuts and all material submitted has been included! So those of you who wish to read about recent times can easily correct the balance by writing about them. The remedy is in your hands! Start by contributing to the next edition now.
