1st November 1999Dear Stephen,
Got your e mail address from the Old Claysmorian Society, and thought you might want to know where one old boy had ended up. Well, I got fed up with England in 1974 and emigrated to Vancouver, Canada, that same year. When I arrived with my wife Anne, who I believe you have met, I started a new career with an Auto insurance company called Insurance Corporation of British Columbia. I have now been with this company for 25 years, holding various positions, estimator,( vehicle damage appraiser ), review officer, Manager of training and research, and presently manager of Material damage dept. We have 3 lovely girls all of whom are now at the University of British Columbia I live in an old ( by our standards) wooden post and beam house on the Northshore of Vancouver over looking the city.
It seems ages ago when we were playing snooker in your parents house in Moor Park, but like all of us, we have mapped out our own future. I adore Vancouver as it give me skiing in the winter, and boating and fishing all year round. I occasionally miss the old country, but not for long as the lifestyle here suits me well.
If you get this I would love to hear back from you. Bring me up-to-date with your news and any info on other characters we knew.
Best wishes,
Iain Savill (63-66)
