31st October 1999Dear Mr Zelle ,
Many thanks for your recent notification of forthcoming events, which I have only just updated due to our absence abroad in the UK and Australia.
We visited the UK this last August for a fortnight only. Unfortunately, due to time restrictions, it was difficult to fit in everyone as our main purpose was to spend some quality time with our two daughters, (Dawn and Kim), in London. Strange that we had to travel 10,000 miles to spend time with ones own kids !!!
Following the UK trip, we returned to Cape Town to update our business affairs etc. and then travelled over to Oz, via Malaysia, to visit my family in Adelaide for 3 weeks. We returned safely a couple of days ago and now it's back to the ol' grindstone !!
Since both our girls are virtually off our hands now and fending for themselves, I am investigating a project which will entail regular travel to the UK and Australia, yet retaining our main base (for now) in Cape Town. We find ourselves caught between three stones at present, as we have family and friends on three continents whom we'd really love to make contact with every year, hence the idea of an income source in each region. Considering the crime problems here in SA, we may eventually base ourselves back in the UK.
Our next trip to the UK will be around April next year, whereupon we will have more time to make contact with yourself and others we missed out on last trip. In the meantime, please retain me on your e-mailing list and I
will continue to update you on our movements and, hopefully, we can get together for that long awaited pint together.
Should you hear of any OC's wanting to visit Cape Town, please let us know as we would be more than happy to provide any help and assistance.
Look forward to hearing from you again in the near future and thanks, once again, for your letter.
Kind regards
Peter Stanford (67-71)
