Dear Mr Beeby,
Despite the hundreds of pupils who pass through your care, I hope you will remember our daughter Nicola, who was at Clayesmore for her A Level years. She acted in a number of school productions including "Measure for Measure" and regularly sang in chapel.
After leaving Clayesmore Nicky studied at Guildford School of Acting, in the Musical Theatre course. She subsequently became a typical 'struggling' young actress, with a number of television bit-parts, a tour of Italy playing Cicily in 'The Importance of being Earnest', a short run in a pilot musical 'Hogarth' in London, and sundry other activities including Murder Mystery plays and promotional work at venues such as the Motor Show. She has now, at last, had her 'break' in returning to her original training, having been cast by Bill Kenwright in the role of Agnetha, the blond in ABBA, in a musical production "Thank You for the Music". The show has been touring major provincial theatres since late August, and it is hoped that after further touring after Christmas it will go to the West End for a short period. As I write she is in Edinburgh, goes to Manchester in the coming week, and is then at the Mayflower, Southampton from 9th-13th November.
Nicky is understandably proud of her achievement and has asked (actually, more told!) me to let those who might be interested to know of her imminent appearance at Southampton. I do not know whether Tony Chew is still a master at Clayesmore? - Nicky had a turbulent relationship with him, but apparently he always threatened to come to see her perform when she 'made it', and she would be grateful if you could pass this information on.
If anyone from Clayesmore should feel inspired to attend, it is essentially a music show featuring accurate reproductions of early 1970's music, with ABBA being the main act so that Nicky is on stage for about half the show. She has a mobile phone number 07931 365255, and by prior arrangement she would be only too pleased to meet up in the bar afterwards to hear what people think of it!
With all personal best wishes
Yours sincerely
Tim Morris
