Further to the letter: the booing and hissing of Humphrey Moore in the dining room, I recall the following:-

DPB, the Head boy and the staff reached the top table

DPB (to head boy) Who are they booing?

HEAD BOY I think it's Mr Moore, Sir

DPB (patting top of head - of course) Oh, thank God. I thought it was I.
