BACK TO NEWSLETTER 2005 CONTENTS
Jan ?
Thanks for the most recent newsletter, - v. interesting reading! I really,
really enjoyed the OC’s day last summer. I agree with the comments about lack of
participation (response from 20 somethings: don’t forget this is one of the
busiest decades of most peoples’ lives! When the dust begins to settle (I’m now
at the grand old age of 26!!!) it’s more manageable to get involved I think.
It’s a great suggestion to make Clayesmore the centre of more gatherings for
many reasons. Firstly, many students are likely to still have friends and family
lurking in the vicinity. Secondly, it’s great to have the chance to see how the
school is developing and changing. I was astounded in the summer at the vast
changes that have happened in Wolverton boarding house – all for the better!
Also I really noticed a very positive vibe about the school, emanating from
existing pupils and teachers. It seemed a very happy thriving place.
I mentioned this a couple of years ago, but I think OCs would really appreciate
knowing (and seeing photos) more of what’s going on at the school currently. I
appreciate it’s not possible cost-wise to send out to everyone copies of ‘The
Clayesmorian’, but what about a round up of the year in the life of the school,
possibly simply reproducing the HM’s letter/review? It helps to make us feel
more connected to it. I know the website does this too, but I rarely check it!
Anyway, many, many thanks for all your hard work. It’s much appreciated!

P.S. Feb 19th. This got buried amidst other paperwork! In regard to my comment
in the last paragraph – just received the Clayesmore ’celebration’ magazine
which does exactly that job so enough said! I stand corrected!
