Steve Doublard Webster & Nepal

Steve & NeeruSteve Doublard-Webster (78-84). Shortly after completing his 6th form Steve decided to take a break from his studies and travelled to Nepal in early 1985. Whilst he had every intention to return to the UK to further his studies (yeh right!!!) Steve soon became involved with the famous Tiger Mountain Group of companies where he studied wildlife and assisted with setting up and running several of their newly established Lodges and Camps in remote west Nepal and South India. During this time Steve's adventures included tiger tracking, fishing for the Great Mahseer and escorting dignitaries and the rich and famous through the Jungles of India and Nepal.

After almost three years Steve turned his interests toward the mountains and ran Mountain Travel, Nepal’s premier trekking company. This enabled him to explore many of Nepal’s trekking trails as well as venture into Tibet and Northern India. He later joined the company’s Sales and Marketing division where he travelled extensively around the world. In 1997 Steve climbed a "small" mountain in Nepal called Island Peak. At just over 20,000 feet this was a great personal achievement for Steve who throughout his school life had suffered badly with chronic asthma.

Steve left the Tiger Mountain Group in 2001 to pursue a number of personal interests as well as establish his own upmarket travel company, Escape2Nepal www.escape2nepal.com   In addition to running Escape2Nepal Steve also works as Sales & Marketing Consultant to Nepal’s finest Heritage Hotel – Dwarika’s Hotel www.dwarikas.com.  This special relationship enables his clients to receive preferential treatment, free upgrades etc.

Steve also helps to look after a very special foundation that sponsors underprivileged and orphaned children in Nepal as well as sponsors a traditional arts school in Bhutan www@hyf-us.org

Steve has now spent now over 20 years living and working in Nepal. He is married to a Nepalese lady by the name of Neeru and has two daughters aged 12 and 7 years, Sitara and Priyani who study at the British School in Kathmandu.

Should you have any plans to visit Nepal or just wish to re-establish contact with Steve then please feel free to send an e-mail to steve@escape2nepal.com
