"Where They Are Now"

1950's - 60's

Abbott, Timothy F.C. (50 – 53) has retired after thirty years in advertising/marketing with Air New Zealand. He now runs a retail store with his wife and has three children in their 30s and two grandchildren with another on the way. He sailed out to New Zealand as an adventure and never returned home again apart from short visits and several visits to Clayesmore where he once met David Spinney who autographed the Book for him.

Young, Robin M.L. (51 – 55) is a retired Chartered Accountant, Systems Consultant and one time Med Charter Skipper. He is currently Treasurer of a Charity running a Retirement Home and lives in Mill Hill, London.

Dowling, Jeremy N. (51 – 56) is a Canon of Truro Cathedral and Director of Communications, Diocese of Truro since 1985. He is also a TV Commentator/Interviewer; Series Adviser to a number of Independent TV Companies; Public Relations Advisor to the Bishop of Truro; Member of the General Synod of the Church of England 1978 – 2005; Reader in the Church of England and he lives in Bude, Cornwall.

Morley, James (52 – 56) has spent over thirty years working in agriculture and forestry before retiring in 1996. He is now a free-lance Writer and has recently published his first book “The Nemesis File”, a mystery suspense novel with a background in yacht racing.

Furneaux, Alan A.S. (54 – 58) ever since graduating from Writtle Agricultural College, Essex has been engaged as an independent Soil and Land Management Consultant and is the longest serving Fellow of the British Institute of Agricultural Consultants. He lives in Crowborough, East Sussex, plays squash and takes long walking holidays.

Cox, Anthony (56 – 59) was with Kraft Foods in Sales and Marketing. He joined CPC (UK) Ltd Consumer Foods Division (now owned by Unilever) and became Commercial Director. He is a former Vice President of UK National Edible Oil and Distributors Association and President of KCC, a Kuwait based consumer foods business. Passionately fond of yachting (hopes to make a circumnavigation in 2007/8) and friend of Covent Garden who is fond of Wagner and the great Russian composers. He thinks Nick Zelle and Jeremy Rogers have a lot to answer for.

Knowles, George (56 – 60) is a Director of a Company manufacturing horsefeed and camel feed. He is addicted to polo and plays 11 months of the year in UK and Argentina.

Johnstone, David M. (57 – 62) was with ICI in Sales and Marketing for 27 years then spent 10 years farming. Now retired, he built his first plane in 1995 and is building his second. He lives in Presteigne, Powys.

Packett, John G. (60 – 63) After 37 years stockbroking in North America and London, John “Gordun” Packett is taking a sabbatical. He has bought a large home in Buenos Aires and will be offering accommodation at modest fees to travellers. Refer to www.LodeRick.com  for a progress report as it is anticipated that the first guests will be arriving in May 2005.

Wontner, Nicholas (61 – 66) has moved to the South shore of Montreal and sends all the best to “dear Old Clayesmorians”.

Jones, David D. (62 – 66) is living in Reading and has a house in Siesta Key, Florida. For 20 years he was a salaried Solicitor for a Finance House, then took a big step at the age of 46 and launched his own company. It was tough to start but now 10 years on “things could not be better”. He was very sorry to read of the death of Andrew Millais (62 – 65), a contemporary and “a very nice guy”.

Unwin, Michael J. (62 – 66) is currently employed as an IT Consultant for Hewlett Packard and lives in Ilminster, Somerset.

Yardley, Kit J. (65 – 67) is Operations Controller European Aviation Air Charter and he is living in Christchurch, Dorset.

Pollard, Mike D. (66 – 69) retired from the Police in March 2003 having received the Police Long Service Good Conduct Medal and is now in the Airline Industry. He lives in Sutton, Surrey and still keeps fit with cross country running.

Olusanya, Olukoya O.K.A. (67 – 72) is a Lumberjack living in the Garibaldi Highlands of British Columbia, Canada.
