A Montenegrin political philosopher, who joined Clayesmore aged 7 with his older brother Vlon. Their father was Minister for Foreign Affairs. After leaving school he spent most of his life at Oxford University, becoming a Fellow of All Souls College, and succeeding Isiah Berlin as Chichele Professor of Social and Political Theory there.
He was the author of several works, including "Consent, Freedom and Political Obligation" (1938) and "Man & Society: A Critical Examination of Some Important Social & Political Theories from Machiavelli to Marx"(1963).
He died 19 February 1975.
